The Southeasterns are April 8-9. John Pinyerd is race organizer. You can contact him at
jpinyerd@cs.com. I'm not sure if the slalom course will be through the Falls or down below the bridge.

Thanks. Just to verify, will there be an oc-1 class?
OC-1 Classes at Southeasterns

Dooley,
Last year there were OC-1 classes in the SE races on the Nanty. I worked safety with some other GCA and AWC folks. I saw Psycho, Phil Foti and others compete in OC-1. Can't imagine a SE race without OC-1 classes.

The race last year was the "Styrofoam Cup"

... not the Southeasterns in conjunction with OC-1 put on by Georgia Canoe of years past.
My bad

JD,
You're right. My memory is slipping
. I worked safety at the Southeasterns year before last.
I think they should rename the "Styrofoam Cup" to the "Dixie Cup". After all, it is held in the Dixie Division of the ACA. And down here we refer to styrofoam cups as dixie cups. The natives of the deep south who remember getting a coke in a dixie cup (generic name for any styrofoam cup) at the drugstore fountain would agree. Even if they never knew what a canoe or kayak slalom race is. The politically correct people would shoot that down though.

Well, I'm confused. But I spoke to Pinyerd by the Hooch on Sunday, and the Southeasterns will be held April 8-9 using the gates opposite and below the store. There certainly will be open boat classes.
Eddyhops, did you ever sell that Hooter?

No, I still have it.
Only paddled one time on flat water since I listed it. I'm bringing it to the Locust Fork WW Classic race here in Alabama for another guy to look at.
PM me your email & I'll shoot you some pictures, if you are interested.

Of course, I belatedly have noticed that the race date in the link that I suggested is in 2003. Sorry about the error.

The Paddler Magazine rundown is incorrect. The slalom race will NOT be through the falls. The slalom course will be downstream, starting opposite the NOC store.
