Hello,

I am keen to get my knees wider in my CU fly and Prelude but there is foam on the outer walls as you know,

How much carving of this foam needs to be done, should i take it all the way to the plastic and get my knees to touch that or just take a few cm off each side..?

i would leave a bit of foam there for safety, and incase you slam into a rock. but i have noly paddled a friends CU fly for a little while, and am not sure how much foam there is there. but when i had an open boat, i had only minimal padding on my knees, less than an inch(like 2cm) and now that i am in c1s, none have more than 1 cm for knee padding on the outside. i would just go until its comfy, but leave some out on the sides.
hope that was useful
cheers

I don't know how long your legs are, but I can't imagine that you'll need to shave it all the way to the plastic.

I don't think it would hurt the boat, but... you might need the foam protection for your knees.
