I've shipped boats, but never just a paddle. UPS wants $60 to ship from Minneapolis to Birmingham, AL !!! I've shipped a boat for less than that!
Anyone have a suggestion on this? I'm shipping a Galasport paddle, which as you know is kinda pricey...so I'd like to know it'll be haddled well.
Any ideas most welcome.
Thanks,
MarkT

i know that the sixty inch mark is one where they tag you alot, if its less, i would just get/make a box. and pad it really well, with that dimpled foam for the blade, and bend in the shaft. then the rest of the padddle i would just pack it with either news paper or that white packing stuff.
cheers

Just sent one recently using UPS. Pipe insulation around the shaft and T-grip. Bubble wrap around the blade. Cut two rectangles of cardboard the length of the entire paddle, and the width of the blade plus 2 inches or so each dimension. Taped the cardboard together with duct tape and/or packing tape to make an envelope, wrote address information, "Fragile" , "Do Not Bend" etc., directly on the cardboard and shipped it off. Good Luck...edg

YIKES!!
Shouldn't be more than $20 for shipping, UPS or USPS.
Fold it up in a ~6' X ~40" piece of cardboard, cut & fold the ends in.

I have had good success with shipping paddles via Fed Ex for under $20. Never even put them in a box - just slap the label on the face of the paddle.
