Oceana on foot?

Anybody know if there's hiking access to either Oceana or Bridalveil (when they're releasing). More to the point, will the rangers let you do it?

The Missus and I will be in the area tomorrow, and I'd like to check it out. I'd be willing to carry a throw rope to make it look like I'm there for a reason.

:( They will not let you down there, and in fact it is dangerous to be wading or clambering down in the gorge when they are running water for paddlers.

My wife and I once climbed down from the lower access and then carefully worked our way up the gorge, climbing Oceana and progressing to roughly the level of the upper access where the stairs are now. We did this when the water was at its typically very low summer level, and the rocks were warm and dry. The rangers still issue permits for this sort of thing, when water levels are dirt low.
