Review: C-Boat Armada Switzerland

Post by Taniwha »

Yep, it happened! It was a small crowd for the first European armada but beautiful weather, great rivers with good waterlevels and all in all a very harmonic and interesting international meeting.

You don't see very often 8 competent C-Boaters at the same time on a whitewater river in Europe.

Thanks Jo and Matt for organizing that event. Thanks to all for coming, it was fun meeting you. Let us make it bigger next year, I will be back!

More pictures to come, stay tuned!

We even did Spotlight-paddling in the middle of the night !

...just joking, my camera gave up.

Harald really had bad luck - he wasn`t able to paddle on sunday because he damaged his back with putting a beer crate in the water of the Simme on the evening of the barbecue :-(

Yes,
it was really a fantastic week-end; thanks a lot Matt for organising the meeting- and also for the good weather you ordered.
I promise that next year, will will drink the beers warm.
And also thanks to Fez who shoulder the 9 hour ride back to Germany, though it was only 400 km.

I'm glad you had a good time here in Switzerland.
Could not come, because my father is very sick.

I hope, I will be there next year

Hiya Guys

Thank you so much for coming. Jo and I had a blast too. What's this about a 9hr ride back??? Never fear, we'll come up if you organise something in the Schwarzwald (Black Forest) next spring!

Hugo sorry to hear your father is sick - hopefully he gets better quickly!. Be assured I'll be organising something next year....maybe hear, maybe somewhere else...anyone have any suggestions?

Sorry I'm so late in posting - I've been out of town for a training course the last 3 days. We were 8 cboaters (France/UK, Germany, Switzerland and NZ were represented!) and 2 kayakers we let come along with us :) Small, but there was a misunderstanding over who was meant to post to the German language forum, so it never got announced there.

We ran the Simme on Saturday from Boltigen to Entlebuch. Saturday evening Steve and I went for a short squirt session on the Aare. Steve was the designer of the Meltdown and it is a fun boat to paddle - even if cut way too big for me :) The decks are seriously scooped (they load great in the current and the edges rounded. It was based on a Snyder K1 design I think Steve said. Steve got to try out the Groove and had the revelation of seeing a mastercut Acrobat for the first time. He now finally understands all the posts about Acrobats and what people do in them on this board. He's already plotting to put his Acrobat on a diet.

Sunday we headed over to the Saane, a beautiful river with a series of 3 Gorges (we only ran 1 & 2) starting in the ski resort of Gstaad.

An awesome group, wonderful weather and sweet rivers. What more can one ask for?

So...next year...what do y'all want to paddle?

9 hr drive...

Post by fez »

Hi Matt,

we we`re sitting for nearly 3,5 hours in a traffic jam between Bern and Basel. The highway was closed at Niederbipp for traffic!

But nervermind: it was so funny !!! Us guys were joking like mad and laughing till I nearly cried.

Thanks from a halfbrainer to my buttboating friends!

Matt, and others, let me know if you want me to make an album in the Armadas gallery for the European Armada! Of course I'd need pics, but I could take some from Marcus' album to start with.

Congrats on what looks and sounds like a great armada! I love the water color!!

Euro Armada...

Post by PAC »

Kenneth, Matt, Fez, others - that would be cool.. adding the "European Armada"!

One suggestion... try to get some tags (locations and names) associated with the pictures (where possible) so we can put some names to faces! Same would be true to the existing Aramda posts (Kenneth let me know if you need some help on that).

Looks like a grand outting over there! Hopefully we can get some exchange programs set up in the near future!

Agree completely PAC... I've been hoping to put captions on to ALL the pics/vids but haven't had time. :(

Hiya Kenneth
That would be awesome. We were planning to ask if you could set up something like that. Could you email me directions on how to post to it?
Cheers,
Matt

I'm creating a blank album and giving Matt admin access to it to upload and caption. Thanks!
