A Burn C1 is Born
After watching me flip, and luckily roll up, three out of four times, above Baby Falls on the Upper Tellico in my Atom, my wife insisted that I look into geting a creek boat. I think Louie was witness to one of these flips/rolls. This was during Eli's creeking clinic. Below is the result.
This is a new Pyranha Burn large that I bought from NOC. I removed the kayak outfitting and installed mini-cell C1 outfitting using a hardwood dowel as the backbone and anchor for the thigh straps. So far, no bulkhead is needed. I did need to trim the cockpit rim a little as I am 6'5" tall, but I think the hull could still be converted back to a kayak if necessary.
The kayak with all its outfitting weighted 43 lbs before I started, and now my C1 weights 38 lbs. Not bad being 5 lbs lighter than the kayak.
See the short video below of me on a lake. What do you guys think about the trim? Right now, the small of my back is 8.5" from the outside of the back of the cockpit rim.

nice! that outfitting looks good. i'm having trouble with the video, guess i'll try later..
i've got 5 days on my new burn L and i am lovin it. it actually is an improvement on an already good design.
fyi, i'm 6', and my seat back is 8" from the back (outside) of the cockpit rim. i'm told it might be a little bow light, but i think it's good from picture i've seen...

squeekyknee, it's the h3 tuned a little bit more towards creekin. it paddles almost the same as the h3. to me, it feels maybe a tiny bit slower, but more nimble. stability seems the same, maybe a little less initial and a little more secondary. it just feels a little bit smaller and lighter. it is easier to boof, i've been able to get the bow up on some drops that i would plug with the h3. i think it carves out of eddies better. but these are all very small differences. the big ones are; it is a lot easier to roll because the cockpit is 1.5" lower. and the bow is reshaped to make it stay up better, and resurface better when it doesn't. so far it seems to work really, really well, i've run a few big sticky ledges and i haven't plugged in yet. i did say yet, i've only had it a little while...
i think it's a great boat.

Burn
I have the medium Burn tricked out and have the seat at 8.5" but plan to move it to 9.25" from back of the cockpit rim. This is a great river runner/ creeker but I plan to keep my M-3 for full on creekin'.
review
Hey Bernie how about a review comparison between the M3 and Burn series. Right now I've also looking at a Fink (been trying to hold out for a FatBoy) but I keep coming back to one og the P boats.
I'd appreciate it (I think others would too) and since your a Pyranha guy if you can add the H3 in the mix that would be great.
No pressure but it would be nice to here from someone who has paddled all three! Thanks in advance. Paul C.

PAC,
I am not sure when I am going to be down in your neck of the woods next time (it will definitely be during Gauleyfest, gotta run the Upper Yough...), but I'll make sure to throw my Finkenmeister on the roof for you to try.
Cheers!

(and yeah, when the Fat Boy finally gets released, I'll buy one unseen!)

I know it's a creek boat, but if you want to see a Burn C1 flatspin in a hole, see the link below.
I don't have much bandwidth, so if you can't see it, try back a little later.

Cool picture. Thanks.
I'm liking my burn more and more. A week ago I spent three days on the Ocoee and one on the upper Tellico. For my size the burn did alot better than my Atom, especially on the Tellico. I did three laps on the Tellico and was clean on my last one.
I didn't get any video of the day on the Tellico, but below are a few from the Ocoee.
I need to work on my cross boof.

m:3 vs. burn
"how about a review comparison between the M3 and Burn series" - this would be great ! I would be interested also in this comparison very much because I could get hold of an M:3 243 not too expensive....
