Col,

Yes, Thomas Fink designed the Finkenmeister. He got just elected as the President of the Alpiner Kayak Club (Alpine kayaking is the same a creeking). On the AKC webite you can find a picture of him as well as his e-mail address, in case you would like to contact him:

In the 5/2004-edition of the German KANUmagazin was an 3-page-interview with "Finki". I can send you a copy, if you want to read it (in German).

Thomas Fink is by the way the second one down the famous Rheinfall in Schaffhausen, Switzerland. In a C1 (converted Eskimo Diablo, I believe)! Being asked why he paddles a canoe, and even the Rheinfall kneeling and with a canoe paddle he answered: "If you've ever driven a Porsche you wouldn't want to drive a Beetle anymore. It's just much more fun paddling a canoe."

The Finkenmeister is the evolution of many designs he build himself by welding polyethylene sheets together. Finki started that because he could't find any suitable boat designs for himself. The Finkenmeister finally is being build by Robson in Germany.

He seems to be a very relaxed guy - and is having a dog that is riding with him on grade 3 and 4 on his sprayskirt

This is the Rheinfall :o
He rode the "line" on the left of this big rock in the middle:

Hello Fez,
Thanks for the reference on Herr Fink. It is good to see that his boat of choice remains the Finkenmeister :D . I would be very interested to know how he has outfitted it.

Bruce
