Hallo,
looking for an OC1 for heavier paddler (220 lbs), i need some information whow this boats work for heavier paddlers. Would the ocoee be another good choice ? Because there are only very few OC Paddlers in europe it`s very difficult to get some information there .

I don't think your size is as big of an issue as your skill sets. I've never paddled or even sit in a Homes but havin paddled all of
Frankies other boats, I don't think your compairin Apples and Apples. Just gussin but if size is the main issue I'd think the Zepher would handle you better, BTW don't worry about your English it is as good as mine.

Haven't paddled a zephyr yet - but anything in the 11' or above range would be fine. I'm 240, and an ocoee is pretty decent for that weight...(for me anyway) I had a nitro and it sat a little low (although at 220 it was not bad)... I even tried a zoom at 220, and it wasn't that bad... although 220's pushing it.

I agree w/ Louie, It's your ability which would govern how comfortable you are... if you've paddled before then I'd say the two boats would be good... If not, you might find the learning in the beginning a little frustrating. I remember being really frustrated at the Nitro in the beginning... but as I got better I realized it was less the boat and more me :-]

You should join us. Saturday would be good, as Isaac will take his girlfriend down the river in a tripping canoe... ... This could get VERY entertainging to watch... ...

I paddled an Ocoee for years at around 220lbs. It handled me fine and is a proven design. Please review recent posts about royalex issues in the newer Ocoees. I've jumped into my wife's Detonator a couple of times and other than the fact that it is slow, didn't have any weight issues. The Zoom was pretty twitchy for me at 230. The second time I paddled it was better, but it still caught me off guard a couple of times. I took a Zephyr out and was pleasantly surprised. Responsive, faster hull and light weight. Rolled as easy as a Zoom without the twitchiness. (I'll take my warmed up plate of crow to eat now after what I said about it in an earlier post). I'm just waiting for some posts from creekers after they have banged it around for a while. I've never paddled a Holmes let alone seen one. My compliments to you on your english. It is better than some people on this side of the pond write!
