I hope they get the gate wire system installed soon. I am not particularly fond of temporary bipods.

Bob:

It's my understanding that the Open Boat Nationals will be on one of the recreational channels, not the competition channel designed for decked boats as the water is likely to be too difficult. According to what I was told this will also mean a jury-rigged gate system.

Kanukid, thanks for posting the links. After the last one, keep clicking 'next' to see some more shots.

I was told by someone "in the know" that nats will be in one of the rec. channels & that it will not even have gates in the lower section of that since the holes are so big. This person indicated that some folks may "whine their way into getting hammered".

Just to let y'all know, I played in some gates last week with my canoe. Whoever starts behind me will have to wait for the gates to stop swinging  I sure hope they have a cool event t-shirt.

Or, if the streambed is typical of an artificial course, the eddy is so strong that it pushes you back into the main current within 5 seconds.

This should be "interesting"...

A hint for the novices: In a really strong eddy, it's better to enter an upstream too low than too high.
