The World Cup was a success for Joe Stumpfel and myself :)

The World Cup of Freestyle Kayaking (and Canoeing. lol.) is a three series international freestyle competition that was held in north america this year. The world cup started in canada on the ottawa river, then traveled to the Black river in new york and concluded at Rock Island tennessee last weekend. There was over 120 competitors from 20 different countries competing for the title of world cup champion.
I was very glad to be able to compete in the first ever world cup series along side with my good friend and fellow DC area C-1 paddler Joe Stumpfel. Joe and I both competed very well in this competition. The points were accumlative from the three events and whoever had the highest standings between the three events would take first overall for the series becoming the world champion.
When all was said and done,I finished in second place over all and Joe was right behind me in third place. It was exciting to finish second in the world right next to my paddling partner and good friend. I couldn't have asked for much more.
I would like to congradulate Guillaume La Rue for his first place finish in C-1 he paddled very well through out the series performing some very impressive tricks. I would also like to congradulate the top finishers from all the other classes there was amazing paddling all across the board.
A big thanks to all the C-1ers who came out and competed. Everyone did great
And I want to thank Wilderness Tours, Blackwater development and the Jackson family for organizing such a great event. I can't wait til the World Championships next year
I have the medalists listed below. Check the world cup website or jackson kayak for full results.
