Hi all,

Looking for a list of OC races near the Ottawa region for next year. This includes anything within a 5 hour driving radius. I know of the Gull race, MKC races but is there anything else?! NY, NJ? QC?

If you have a list of this past years dates, it will give me an idea for next year.

Very hooked into OC slalom!!! Help a gal get her fix!

The New England Slalom Series (NESS) has several races that might be within striking distance for you, particularly the ones in northern VT (Fiddlehead) & Rochester, NY (Cascade Falls). NESS was started as an OC slalom series, but has allowed both open and decked boats for many years. They have a great group of very supportive paddlers. The dates don't shift much from year to year, but Keech LeClair will probably be updating the web site for 2007 before too long (I would say January at the latest) as the last 2006 race was last weekend.

NOTE: The Manchester, NH course used for two of the races was destroyed last year when the Merrimack River ran at 80,000 cfs. I doubt whether those races will be held in the near future.

And while Sir Adam may add in to promote it, I will add the upcoming 50th anniversary of the Hudson Derby in May07. This is a Giant Slalom with big ferries and lots of sprinting but there are gates to be run along the shores. It is a must do for Adirondack Canoeists and is a very fun weekend.

There's the Credit River Downriver & Slalom weekend. I think it's typically around end of March... it takes place in Streetsville in Missisisisisauga, 1/2 hr west of Toronto. I think that they're approaching their 50th year. There are approx 19 gates, pretty much over a C1/swift section of the Credit.
