The Gauley was runnin a little above normal release. I had a kick butt time in the wheelboy and can't wait for next year to return.
Might be a good Armada spot  Adam?

FYI, turn down the volume or mute if youngins are around..
Guy has a foul mouth and he's shootin the video.
The comment comes at the very end.

I thought that the commentary for the Do something was hilarious, reminiscent of a Dane Cook sketch called the BK lounge. WHOPPER! = SMILE AT THE CAMERA.
nice surf though, looks like a nice spot.

Nice surf you had there!

I must admit that although my skill level would best be suited to the Wheelboy (or Martin's Sith 8) ) on that wave, the boat I'd be thrilled to attempt to play around on it would be the Groove....

Unless there is a major movement afoot I suspect we will still have the annual NB of the Potomoc armada in that location (though I have no problem going elsewhere...it's not my show...it's all of ours), there's absolutely no reason we can't have ANOTHER armada somewhere :D

The Lower G would be a great "intermediate, advanced" skill level Armada.
the play spots are epic, as is the excitement of a class III-IV run.
And I agree with Adam, the Groove would be an awsome boat to paddle there, though I'm leaning more towards the Sith for the whole river run...Big water=Big fun.

Ledges...

Nice surf there stud-muffin (and thanks for the warning on the sound track - since by boy checks this site out). Some of us call that Ledge wave "God's Wave" because it is soooo sweet that only God could be so kind! Plus you can look like one on it too  !
Particularly after the Fest frenzy and there is no waiting line for a ride. 8)
I don't think I'd get there in the Groove based on my limited experience in that boat - its the rapids prior and after that would be the issue. I'd be tuckered out by the time I'd get to the Ledges.
But I've been on it in a Big Boy and it was obscene! Even money that a Sith and / or Pagan would be that or more!!!!
As for holding an Armada there...well, the early season easier NBofP works nice to get people's skills sets back after the winter!
Unfortunately not all of us have water year round - or at least water of a temp. we are willing to play in :o . But that's might just be me!
That said there are times when groups from the C community get together to paddle the LG and / or UG and the NRG in the Fall. Not to mention the surrounding water shed. So pull out that calendar and start planning now! 8)

That is correct, I can't....
Got laid off from the regular job 3 weeks ago so I need to work whenever and where ever the jobs are. I currently have some work lined up for this weekend, plus a Halloween party to attend with the girls Saturday night for their school.
Sucks I know, but I can't spend $$ on paddlin till I have it coming in again, and You KNOW I'd HAVE to spend some $$ at GAF
Shawn
PS. The Gauley was definately worth the $$ to get out there...

Here is another link to a Wheelboy at diagonal ledges. Sorry, it took me so long to get it out there, I had to get a copy to upload it...

Yeh, I'd love to try a pagan. But I would hate to get hooked. I'm hard on boats, and not the best at composite repair... Not to mention that I don't have that much cash laying around. Besides I need to get a creek boat first.

Paddling

Squeakyknee,

I'd love to be able to paddle with other c-boaters. I have a lot to learn about paddling C1. I'm just now getting to the point where I am about as competent as I was in a kayak (not really saying much and that was years ago, before I saw the light), but feel I'm still missing some basics. The more I get to paddle with c-boaters the more I seem to pick up about correcting some of my sloppy technique.

Unfortunately, my schedule is hard to predict and I tend to make paddling decisions (location and if I'm paddling at all) at the last minute. Right now, I'm thinking about going to the gathering that Louie's putting together, but only time will tell.

Take It Easy,
