Have you checked the playak video sections? There are a few videos available on C-1 playboating (including offside cartwheeling): http://playak.com/videos.php?fol=Technique

Spins are one of those things that seem to be hard to grasp the feel of for a while but once you do one right it all clicks.

Guess the one thing that really stuck it for me was the concept of planting the blade and rotating around it. That and saying $#%& it and not worrying about going on my offside.

There's a good article a few issues back w/ Marc Scriver doing the basic spin... Would probably be good to read since you've already got the spin down :-) You can find backissues online at www.rapidmedia.com or .ca, I can't remember which issue it's in.

I'm not saying I could any better, but it looks like some the spinning in the videos has a lot more to do with finding an ideal wave/hole than it does with executing perfect strokes.

Maybe those of us who suck just lack a local sweet spot.

I will say that great spins can be acheived bwithout even outting the paddle in the water. it's more about balance and edge control.

^ What Orky said.

Spins suck, I spent so much time (year+) trying to learn them 27 different wrong ways and it took me 30 seconds to learn to do them the right way.

If you can make it to a NB Armada, do so, find a C1er in a playboat there, tell him/her "wtf, i wanna spin!", 5 min after you get to Lunchstop wave, you'll be spinning and kicking your self in the head because it's so easy.
