Any good whitewater near Ely? How often and when does stuff run in MN?

there isn't so much near Ely, but there are a ton of runs near Superior. the northshore is full of them. there is aguide book by dave bara, I tihnk it is. also check out the rapidsriders.net site. that is a minnesota club. there are about 3 weeks of whitewater in minnesota. you have to hit it all ato once. but then there is the St. Louis down by Carlton near Duluth which is pretty much good until it goes below 1000. the top is really chill, with one fun drop. the bottom below the dam is rad. just rad. you should get someone to take you for your first trip down there. check the outpost, down by the dam, and that should give you Randy Carlson's email or #, he knows everyone.
