CBoats.net "revenue" info..for the curious
As I view this site as something we all contribute to, I thought I would give you all a glimpse as to how the google ads, and our kind sponsors above have helped defray the costs of running CBoats.net.
I'm happy to say that for once we're not necessarily losing money!
Looking at the past year (while preparing for tax time...), the ads and store sales have allowed us to cover the hosting expenses. I'm note sure how much electricity to my laptop works out to, or the programs to edit the images to post here, but if you ignore that we're making 43 cents a day! Admittedly that's not paying us anything for the time we put in (I figured what that "cost" with PAC one time and it was a bit depressing...thankfully we all love CBoats:) ), but at least it's stemmed some of the outflow a bit.
We're hoping to ad a few more advertisers in the coming weeks, and I hope you've all enjoyed the latest selections in the CBoat Store (they changed just before Christmas, if you have yet to check out the new designs).
And yes, we are working on the Calendar this weekend:). Our store profit was minimal this year (as you can tell by the overall "profit" ), and we hope to continue keeping the markup on the CafePress goods low - I know their base prices aren't the cheapest to begin with, but it's the only way we can offer goods due to our "real" jobs.
Thank you all for your support this past year, and I hope you continue to enjoy the site. We have a few BIG improvements we've been working on for a long time (since we went over to this new format), and hope to roll them out soon....
Keep the C!

You're welcome
Everyone is very welcome!
My point in posting the above was really just to keep things open...I know I check out a lot of sites and forums, and I've always wondered (and still do!) if the folks running the boards make any money off it or not. I suspect a bigger board, with putting more time in to getting advertisers and a non-cafe press store it COULD be done, but right now I'll just hope the "extra" $ at least pays for the electricity for my laptop .
Thank you ALL for participating - if it were not for folks all around the world being willing to share their ideas and thoughts here, there wouldn't be much of a site (other than a lot of data on old boats )
