First post, so let me say hello to all.

I am curious about the durability of the zephyr. I would like to hear some first hand accounts of long term use.

I am a kayaker, who tends to lose a blade frome time to time. So needless to say my open boating may lack some finess(I hit a lot of rocks).

Currently I paddle a Rodeo on ocassion. I am hoping to make some runs with some of you guys at the "not Louie fest". Anyway I digress.

I have beat the living heck out of mine and other than looks, it's as good as the day I got it. I put about 50 days on it last year.
The only thing I have heard on the down side about them is from a guy on a trip last fall who had said that he had cracked two of them already paddling it in extremely cold weather. Usually when it's super cold out I don't paddle it so I haven't come across any issues as relating to that.
Otherwise I love it and plan to have it for years to come.

A little different question. Has anyone had a Zephyr long enough to know, if you get a fiberglass rash (itch) from the bottom after some wear? With the fiberglass ratio as high as it is, I've wondered if this is any concern. This is not a rash from the inside of the hull, but one gotten from the bottom. As when lifting the boat or reaching across the bottom. The kind of thing that has happened to every 'glass' boat I've owned.

Yup, sure have, though not as bad as bumping up against my 20 year old Sawyer canoe... Like you said, it happens with all glass boats eventually.
