DR Critical Mass question

wondering if anyone has converted one.

I'm importing a container of the DragoRossi boats and would like to be able to accomodate a C1 friend of mine with the stock that I am getting. The Critical Mass looks like a good conversion, but since I"m not a frequent Cboater I figured I'd ask here first.

I have never converted one, but I had a good look at it last year at Moosefest. That boat looks great. If I was to convert a creekboat for myself, it would definitely be near the top of the heap.
It's lines are very similar to the ones on the Big Gun, which a friend of mine has converted into a C1, and that boat is so far one of the best C1 conversions I have paddled, so the CM should be good to go.
If your friend does convert one, please give us here some feedback about it!

Scott may have failed to mention that you can also buy the boats without outfitting now... if that helps.

How much are they without outfitting?
The fact that MEC was charging CAN$1699 before tax for a DR boat did not help their sales. Now they have the one's thy have (Mafia, Fish and Squashtail) marked down to CAN$1000.

Martin, Corran posted something on www.boatwerks.net not too long ago with prices...

I'm presuming the base price for the boat is standard for all DR boats but I could be wrong. Either way, pertty cool idea for cboaters.. we could almost call these 'c1's' instead of conversion!

CM similar to BigGun

I have paddled a BigGun Expedition conv. for the past 5 years and it works well for me. Seldom paddle my Atom anymore. The CM looks like a longer BG with some mods. CM would be at top of my list if I was getting new ride. Think I saw new CM bare for $799 or $899 retail. Would go for the hatch again, great feature.

No need for outfitting we don't require. :D

the boats start at $799 USD
I don't have the shipping worked out to Canaday yet. Of course I could ship there now, but its just really expensive. I might make sense to run a few boats up to Montreal for Corran to ship...

Anyway. Thanks for the responses. I have an old Mafia that was (unfortunately) used as a roll bar for my friends car. The dog and driver survived (as well as a playboat). I ripped the seat out and took a torch to it and the hull popped out most of the way. If I can get the last little wow out of it, I think that I"ll just convert that and see how it goes. The Critical Mass would make a better conversion for me personally becaue I'm a poor cboater. But, my friend might get along well with the Mafia. I'll let people know how it goes.

The only other one of our boats that I've seen converted is a Fish.

Hmph. Didnt notice your signature ;-)

So I'd be interested in pricing.. are the boats 799 US in the US or is there shipping on top of that? Where abouts in the US.

I'm in Ottawa, so yes - Mtl would be better...

Wow. I should have checked this thread sooner.

Hammerhead. Clarke Outdoors in Cornwall, CT has a full demo fleet. I also have a full demo fleet. We should meet up sometime. Tville if the water is low, somewhere else if we get rain again. I'm down at Bulls Bridge all the time.

SOUNDS VERY GOOD, GOT SOME FOND MEMORIES RELATING TO CLARKE OUTDOORS & SOME NIGHTMARES RELATING TO BULL'S. I WAS RECENTLY T/W DAVE SAAF ABOUT PLANS FOR NEW BOATS, PADDLING DESTINATIONS, ECT & HE SAID HE KNOWS YOU, SO MAYBE WE CAN WORK SOMETHING OUT. HE DID SAY HE PROBABLY WOULD NOT BE ON THE WATER THIS W/E THOUGH(4/28-29). I'LL PROBABLY BE STICKING CLOSE TO THE FARMINGTON, TO PADDLE & TO STOP BY THE SPRING SALE @ COLLINSVILLE C&K.
