Hello,
I have a Project 52 and was thinking about converting it to C1. Does this boat make a good conversion? Also i was wondering what was up with the Team etc. conversion packet. It seems that the email link given is broken. Does anyone know where I should go to order the information packet or know of any better information on outfitting a C1 boat?
I am also a beginner, but I learn quick.
thank you,
Clinton Miller

He's the Team etc. guy and inventor of the outfitting. Watch out, he's also a walking, talking cartoon.
Also search for: j norton x
thread for another outfitting option...
he has photos here:

Thank you.
I would also like to add a question. Is C boating unbearably uncomfortable? Email addresses like "painboater" got me wondering about that.

Ed that's probably the best description for him I've ever heard.
One he would be proud of too!

To contact Jay (Not Elvis) try this email address - it might take some time to hear back from him...
painboater@hotmail (removethis) .com or try posting on the
http://www.monocacycanoe.org/mccboard/mccboard.html board for him since he visits there upon occasion!
Hopefully he is lurking out there and will also show up at the Armada. Foxes is so much more fun with him there!

at first I had to get out every 10-15 minutes- I can stay in the boat 40 min to an hour now and probably longer if I werent overweight- but I don't find it painful most of the time now- it's just my feet have fallen asleep

Jamming yourself into a tiny little c1 playboat is only slightly worse than jamming youself into a tiny little k1 playboat. It all depends on how well your boat is adjusted to you. But kneeling in the boat pretty much garauntees your feet will fall asleep quickly. It does get better over time.
As I understand it larger well adjusted boats help, but I am only familiar with the tiny little playboats (i.e. LL session and Mr. Clean)

for some it is.
i find kayaks to be unbearable. kneeling is WAY better for my back.
i can paddle my creekboat all day in comfort. race boat... 15 minutes. play boat... somewhere in between. it's almost all in the outfitting, but it does take some conditioning too. being limber helps.
....as does being
TOUGH

Thank you for all your input, it has really helped me. I can't wait to figure out how i am going to outfit it. I'll be one of the few cboaters in my club.
Any more input would be awesome. I am very happy to see how friendly this community is.

CMiller,
Where are you located? You should try to get to the Cboat Armada. There you can see many CBoats and get lots of help and ideas for ourfitting. Check the Forum for more information on the Armada.
Do not worry about worry about the pain. You can start loosening up the ankles now by kneeling in front of the tv using a basketball as a pedestal seat. Or, start with the smallest exercise ball. Also, use a larger exercise ball and start kneeling on it balancing yourself with a hand on a table first then with nothing. This will really help with balancing yourself in a CBoat.

Hi, Clinton. Cboating can be quite uncomfortable for the knees and ankles if you cannot lay your feet flat on the floor when kneeling. Many recommendations have been given for stretching the ankle/shin so try a search for these comments. Also, stretching the thigh muscles can keep you comfortable longer in the boat. Ankle blocks can help, too.
The biggest thing with kneeling comfort is how your boat is outfitted. There's a GOLD MINE of information on this site. "J"'s outfitting kits really help as does many others (Bob P., Craig Smerda, Randy, et. al.). Click on the "outfitting" tab at the top if you have not done so. You should get more replies to this. Keep us up-to-date on how it's going.

Joe Stumpfel had a large hand designing the project series, so yes, they would work well for C1s. or at least they were designed to work well as a C1.
