About the Worlds....

I was fortunate enough to catch the finals. I got there just in time to see men's OC1. Jeremy, good rides! You all make it look so freekin easy!

Buseater was pretty big and unpredictable, it seemed that the openboats were more prone to flushing than the yaks - every once in a while the wave/hole would erupt and eject whomever was in it at the time.

The 'hype' around OC's on buseater was pretty interesting. The announcer was pretty tweeked that Open boats were throwing moves like that on bussy!

There were nine competitors in open boats, with only four boats between them! ;-)

I was about to leave, as I thought I missed C1 finals, but thought I'd go watch some more...then the c1 finalists came up :-D It was VERY entertaining.... Like Jeremy said, the finalists kept bouncing back and forth between CAN and FRA and then Dan from US stole the show with a serious last ride (his first two weren't too impressive at all, in fact he was in last I think)....

Being that the boats are actually "open" and can suddenly be burdened with an extra "x"-amount of water in them when the pile crashes onto them they will do that... sometimes it has an adverse effect and it will hold you in the pit/pile... it's truly a double edge sword. From all the footage I saw being just right of the pile and utilizing the pile to throw your moves was "the" place to be. When you're in the pit and in the pile... that's when "strange" things can happen. Glad you got to "C" it all. :D

Yeah, the level was lower for finals than prelims, the wave was breaking much harder, and it had a huge effect on the openboats. less green meant less room to work without filling up.

I think Dan surprised everyone, including himself. I really glad he won, since now he's got a free pass to the next worlds, and I won't have to compete against him at Team Trials!
