I just saw the link and wanted to get it over here. A real bummer.

On a positive note, I got to see PAC, paddle on the ASCI course and boat the New River Gorge (about 2.5 feet at the Fayetteville Station guage). Paul was of great help in finding the boaters for me. Always nice to hang out with you when I can, Paul.
It was a real whirlwind tour of 700 miles on a 36 hour "hall pass" from the family, but worth it. I got to hook up with some kyackers I did not know and run NRG with them. What a blast that river still is!
I gotta give the whitewater course at ASCI positive remarks. I think they did a real nice job putting that artificial course together and making some of the features adjustable for the kind of boaters they have. Also got to see some of the slalom racers working out and spent a little time talking with them--always a treat. Didn't want to wait for the boatercross since I was driving to Ray's campsite that night, which was too bad. I think I hurt some of the workers' feelings when I told them I wasn't gonna race my c-1.
BTW, while talking to my wife on the phone on Friday, I heard my 16-month old daughter start wailing and crying in the background. Turns out she decided that it would be a real neat idea to headbutt our 90 pound retriever/hound dog in the head--she lost and got a good sized "egg" on her forehead for her efforts. In an odd way, I feel kinda proud of her effort.
