How do I make gel-coat slicker?

It's old & oxidized gel-coat. I've tried Maxi-Glide & it helps, but I'd like something that lasts longer. Any thoughts?

Try wet-sanding w/ 2000-grit sandpaper. If it's real bad you may have to use 1000-grit first.

that or...
could try a orbital sander and some good rubbing compound... get one that's 2000 grit or better

wet sand, then buff... do both.
.. or tape it off and shoot it with a fresh coat

Thanks for the help! Looks like I've got some sanding in my future
I think it'll be worth it though. It's only supposed to get up to 101 today
, so this project is shelved till fall.

Only 101? We hit 106 yesterday and are on our way back... At least Wednesday they relented and released some water on the Saluda...

Yesterday was 105, but I'm way up here in the North. Tuesday we caught the spike. Flow went from 2,800cfs to 15,000
There's a wave at the top that I've been trying unsuccesully to catch for years
& Tuesday I caught it in the Sith
It's even more amazing than I ever thought it could be
The guys I was with said that I was on it for over 10 minutes
It's ~3' high, glassy w/ just enough of a foam pile to keep you from blowing off
The Sith makes a neat "ssssssssssszzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz" sound as you carve
