Opinions on a Rival OC1 to OC2 conversion

Hey there
I was at a race this weekend and saw a Dagger Genesis converted to a tandem. My buddy and I started wondering how well a Rival would do as a tandem.
So lets hear your comments...
Anyone done it? and how'd it work out?
Too short?
Not enough capacity?
General overall thoughts?
Thanks,
Neil

Neil,
I would stroungly encourage that your and Dan to convert that Rival into an OC2. Just make sure that you invite me along when you take it out for the first timem so I can document if for posteriority...
.
Seriously, the Rival is too small for a tandem. Even the Genesis only works for a relatively lightweight team, and the Rival has significantly less volume. It might work as a kid's tandem though.

I agree. Even our Mad River Synergy, designed as a tandem, has been marginal with both of us aboard. Just takes too much water. Synergy makes a great long solo, though.
If I buy a Millbrook Defiant, I may rig it so that we can occasionally paddle it tandem on easy rivers, just so that I can take only one boat along on road trips, but even though the Defiant is a big solo, it is not going to work well as a tandem boat.

Really? I paddled one briefly and from what I remember, it did not impress me as tandem material at all! Nice solo boat, though.

Defiant doesn't have to be "good" tandem material for just occasional use for gawking at scenery. It just has to poke around on flat lakes or very easy rapids.

I did a Rival OC2 for my daughter and me, but by age six (and she is small) it was just to short.
