Overflow X

Post by j.m. »

Is an Overflow X a good kayak to convert into a c-1. This would be my first c-1.

J.M.; I paddled an Overflow X for two years and it was the best C-1 I ever paddled. It is the fastest plastic boat I ever paddled and was very responsive. That said, it is very round and consequently tippy. I was not able to paddle it well until I had the saddle height down below 6", then sadly, I couldn't stay in it more than a couple of hours without my knees killing me. You may not have those difficulties, but as a first boat the lack of primary stability will be challenging. You will develop a good roll quickly.
