Is ALF goiong to happen?

Post by Mr.DeadLegs »

Is there a central meeting place?

Will there be trip coordinators?

If so how do we find out who they are and what trips will be going?

Is there a place where everyone is staying?

Movies, communal dining room, place just to hang out?

Board with water levels?

Roll call, who is coming?

This was a blast last year even with little water. The contacts made, new water paddled. Time is getting near, what is the story.

Yes. It's on for sure. Plan on coming up. If the water is low to medium everyone will be on the tellico, little, chattooga, Big South Fork etc. If we get some high water things could be more interesting.

I'm sure Louie would lead trips down Island Creek, Little Clear Creek or Conasauga Creek. All of those are great high water options for III-IV boaters.

I would be glad to take groups down Tremont or Big Creek if we have water. Those are also great runs for big groups in town.

If we get a LOT of water I will probably try to take a group down West Prong, Santeetlah or Overflow Creek.

Remember: It's LouieFest. It won't be organized. It will be a lot of fun regardless of water conditions.

There will be lots of trips from Class II on up every day. Pray for rain.

ALF trips

Post by Crunchy »

I'm coming over to do some open boating.
I can lead trips on the Nanty, Tuck, French Broad Section 9, Hiawassee, Upper or Lower Green.
These are all class 1-3 rivers.

alf trips

it would be nice to have a daily, or nightly, posting of a trip planner. some rivers are 2 or 3 hours away and easily a day trip or 2 for me (and many others) to jump on. i wanna play, but don't know if i'll be up there this year, so... can blackberry or laptop help us all hook up?

How about a designated phone number w/voicemail and record the outgoing message each day with the plan. Sort of an ALF hot-line.

we drove 16 hours last year on an internet invite. Looked up stuff on AW, tagged along with the improptu trips and had a blast, even with low water.

there's about 15 of us (that's what happens when you come back to Canada first of March with wet grins  ) within walking distance of each other in the Wear's valley...another 5 in Gatlinburg we will be touching base with.
Why not use cboats as a check in?
I'll have my computer
canoesrock@hotmail.com
if I can help with communications let me know
lets not get too orgnaized now, it just wouldn't be ALF

Dooley, you can take my hubby off my hands (Stew), not like I had much say anyways   he's looking forward to catching up with you..
Chris, I'll ring you when we get in. If you decide to do any of the trips you mentioned after you get your "get to" list done I'm game.

I'm in NW GA and would love to meet up with some boaters sometime during the two weeks. My 8 month old plays a big part in where and when I can go, but I definitely want to paddle with some cboaters.

Like mentioned above, maybe some of you could post up here, like a day or night before, what river trips you're going to take so that some of us around the SE area could just meet at the river.

I'd love to hit up Big Creek again. Was over there last Thursday afternoon and just missed some cboaters on the upper. Was getting late so we hiked up a little piece and then bombed down. anyway, tons of relentless, nonstop action on that.

What if LRC or even some of the tribs are going? maybe too far south.

looking forward to it though.

OC1paddlr or anyone else that's South of me, if you're interested, we could carpool to something. I'm like 25 minutes from I-75, Calhoun exit.

All that's a certainty here is that

- it's between March 8 - 16th
- lots of boaters coming down
- there are rivers to be run

There it is. Don't think there will be anything like a phone line.
Meeting places will be impromptu as the hall from last year is unavailable.

We'll be probably indicate a meeting place the night before kind of thing, based on what Louie thinks (or any other suggestion) on this board and word of mouth.

Hey, we'll figure it out on the fly! 8)

Not to worry about this.

We all have cell phones. Plus, an informal meeting place will emerge . Plus, everyone will not go to the same rivers anyway.

My cell # is (573) 489-0684.

Actually, I propose a seperate thread where anyone who wants to to can add their cell number. Then, right before we leave we can print them off and put them in the glove box. I will start such a thread now.

Yes Dooley pretty much covered it all.
