How do you post pictures right here with no link to a website, just having the file?

you have to upload the pic to a hosting website.

There are lots of good free ones.

Flickr, picasa, photobucket, even facebook. once the pic is online somewhere then you can post the link between the [IMG] tags.

Well said!

We do not have the ability to store uploaded images for the forum at this point. Space ($) and security constraints have kept us from going in that direction to this point, particularly with all the free hositng options out there.

We ARE allowing uploads to the new conversion database as a trial to see how things go...but the files have to be small (<50k).

OK

Thanks guys!
This was for Paul Mason's new invention. He has pictures and a movie. He couldn't get it to load here so asked me how to do it. So I just went to the source...

If you need to host a photo, just drop me a line and I can put it on our server.

I'm also playing around with Coppermine on the Colorado Paddlers site. In theory you should be able to post there and embed a link from it's page.

However I haven't had time to work with it much, so I'm sure it's full of bugs/ issues.
