Palmer Fest question
What kind of water can I expect from runs in the area? I'm a U.S. paddler so I'm familiar with shallower creek runs like some in Tenn. or larger volume drop-pool stuff like W.V. Thanks, Doug
We are located in Ottawa so creeks we go to Highway 7 (Mamora area) (www.mackfest.com) for descriptions
Unless there is alot of rain between now and then these creeks will be done. In terms of comparison to Tn, these aren't creeks. Upper Black is the best of the lot there.
Contact open gate and he can hook you up with info on the Quebec side. Hubby is doing his creek weekend this weekend there.
Simon, Brule etc....(these would be (from descriptions and pictures, creeks in TN sense)
Next weekend, not really sure there; will be stuff running on the Quebec side for sure.
Doncaster, Oureau Ashigan (sp?) The seven sisters will have to come down alot on the Rouge but you never know. None of these are creeks in the TN sence
anyways here's a good site:
http://192.77.51.34/~cleduc/Canot/canorama.html
www.cartespleinair.org (home page for above)
The Quebec rivers are something you'd do on the way home as they are more than 2 hours back towards USA.
there's always the Ottawa, you're less than an hour away but I think it's still big.
anyways one of the local WW paddling sites is:
www.boatwerks.net
I'm no expert, just thought I'd give you some basics to look at till the creekers catch your post
You are looking at technical small river runs I believe.
the Upper Madawaska is running but not sure of in week time
EDIT TO ADD:
you might want to adjust the title of the post to include (alternate rivers) looking for other rivers etc..... Palmerfest might only be looked at by people attending. While many are (it's sold out) there are many who will not and might not look at your post
two cents
