After a weekend of epic front / side / back surfs in various hole play spots on the Ottawa.

My saddle decided to come completed out of my boat.

So I have threee questsion.

1. what do you use to remove the previous adhesive from the boat.

2. what do you use to remove the previous adhesvie from the saddle.

3. what adhesive do you use to re-glue the saddle to the boat.

On another note I made the battleship go totally vertical yesterday in Phil's Hole. She was totally out of the water two feet above the foam pile which was at least 5 feet high.

Take some dragon skin to the pedestal, take some sandpaper to the hull. I've never been thorough about getting it all out and no problems. Use Weldwood contact cement - the kind in the red can (the green can is water soluble).

Don't worry about getting it too clean - But do put two coats on the foam as lots of the first coat will soak in.

Is your saddle supported by a thwart or is it free standing ?

Just my 2 cents.......free standing pedestals should be glued in using 3M 3532 two part Urathane Adhesive. It is a structural adhesive that is mucho stronger than contact cement.

Contact cement should be used for thwart supported saddles.

I have started using 3m Super 90 spray, It may be called Hi Strength 90, anyway its in a spray can. I use it for Foam to Vinyl and it also works well for foam to polyethelene(kayaks). Its about $20 dollars a can and lasts quite a while. Also works great for foam to foam. applies like vynabond--apply to both surfaces, let dry, then attach to other surface to be glued to. Very little mess coming out of a spray can.
