Recycling, aka, Cheap boat

With a little ingenuity, careful planning, $50 of resin and seam tape, you can turn an old fiberglass shower stall into a hard edged, planing hull, surf machine. Check the contractor's dumpsters or craigslist(not Schmerda) for an old shower stall to call your next boat. Using a technique akin to building canoes and kayaks out of plywood, you can shape your new boat using a jigsaw. Just be sure to seal the exterior with epoxy or latex paint to prevent fiberglass splinters. Food for thought. I can already see a new class at nationals, SS-1.

I was looking for a way to lace together two rectangular trash cans, mouth to mouth. Then I could cut an opening like on Smerda's Taureau, and try some of his class outfitting concepts.

Plastic welders are cheap.

Reinforcement with metal strapping and rivets is a good idea.

I think we all need to get on the water more....

Unfortunately, with our drought my water options down here are limited to showers... if I made a shower stall boat I'd have to leave the plumbing attached...
