I think there must be some top secret espionage going on here. I called the magazine editor yesterday and left a message asking why my company's listing wasn't included this year. I'm still waiting to hear back from him.

Unless I overlooked them, Hornbeck Boats wasn't in there either...and for once they were last year.

After putting this site together I've realized that the majority of "Guides" put out are less than complete....

What are the criteria for getting into the magazine anyway? In my business, it's usually necessary to buy an ad to get recognition that you exist. A large ad might get you included in a comparison, a series of ads gets you a solo writeup.

Unfortunately, the publishing business - is a business.

Buyer's Guide is a free listing for manufacturers.

((from other post))

i see a few still see read it...

maybe a note to the Editor would help - I send one periodically reaffirming how useless his open boat articles are in general, and why i'd only know because it 's a free subscription with an ACA membership.. furthermore it cast a bad reflection on the kayak and raft info, knowing how pitiful the whitewater open canoe reporting is

well

I suggest checking through the issue to see if other low-volume builders such as Bluewater (now a Scott subsidiary) have been omitted. Paddler may have had a bad assistant editor deciding to economize by removing small builders. I remember a time when they didn't even list comprehensive specs, but they must have found they couldn't omit that when C&K was putting in details.

under paddles, both FoxWorx (formerly Camp Paddle - http://www.foxworxpaddle.com/) and Zaveral (http://www.zre.com/canoepaddles/) are missing (both made local to me...)

They missed Vermont Canoe, Too

Quite frankly, Paddler and C&K Mag should all be called Kayak Mag.

Only canadian mags seem to give canoes ant focus these days.

Any good USA canoe mags I'm missing?
