So a year and half later this guy calls and

tells me he found my Bailey stick. WOOHOOO!!!!

So my question - I'd like to make a generous offer of thanks for fishing the paddle out of the river and being honest enough to call me instead of just saying finders keepers (like alot of people on BoaterTalk apparently would do - if you read the posts about the latest boat stolen from the Green). Anyway what do you guys think would be appropriate gesture of thanks - please no obscene suggestions  Louie (or anyone else).

I've always considered (good) beer to be a suitable currency in boating related exchanges. If they don't drink, then some other interesting comestible - BBQ sauce (your local variety unique?), another beverage (i.e. Blenheim's Ginger Ale), something homemade, etc...

Not to hijack this tread, but speaking of Blenheim, Scott, are you going to make it to the Armada? If yes, can I put in an order for a case?

TGG!

Hoping to make it - trying to recruit some folks from down here. Looking pretty good at the moment. If it works out I'll certainly be taking "orders"!

Scott - I'm in for a case of the ginger ale too - 50/50 mix - reg and hot if you can.

As for the paddle... How much have you missed it? What's the replacement cost?
I figure a case of good brew or a bottle of nice scotch work. Only issue is if he is a non-drinker. Then a gift cert for one of his local retailers would be nice.

Good karma is always rewarded! His and yours! :-)

If they don't drink they are not to be trusted under any circumstances.

I returned a kayak stick to a guy that lost it on the Gauley last September. I told him I only needed payment for the cost of shipping it back to him. I insisted ONLY shipping! He sent me like 50$ or something obscene like that.

If the inverse is true, then there are some very trustworthy folks around here...

Personally I never drink unless I am alone or with somebody, I find it works out best that way.

Most meat eaters would appreciate a vacuum sealed package of AAA kobe beef steaks. At least an inch or two thick. If He's a vegetarian, stick with beer. If he doesn't drink perhaps he'd prefer some fine cheese or a fruit basket.

If the guy has dread locks, get him a half O of BC Bud

ginger beer
