Help with event

Post by cbcboat »

So I am helping to organize a paddle event this year that includes a downriver, slalom and maybe boatercross/sprint. In years past the canoe participation has been pretty good but we've had a hard time gettin kayaks to come out and participate. The downriver is mostly flatwater boats and touring yaks, but he slalom is obviously based for WW boats. In the events that you all (yall, for those from the S or E) participated in or organized how do you peel the yaks of the surf wave and get them to participate? keep in mind we have a play wave in downtown. It seems odd that we consistently have far more canoes (OC) show up than yaks, were as most events are far the other way. I think its awesome but we do need to have yaks attend as well ($). any thoughts or ideas would be much appreciated. Oh yeah some of you should come too!
Thanks
B

There was a "Triple Crown" event held just recently at Tarrifville Gorge in CT. They secured sponsors to offer a $1,000 cash prize to the overall winners and merchandise or gift certificates for places below first. You can find info at http://www.tvilletriplecrown.com/ If you want more info than what's on the website, contact Jamie McEwan.

For those of you that came to the OC slalom Nat. in Montana back in 2004, we have finally secured the same site for this year's local event. The water level that year was 1,600+ cfs. We are expecting much more water this year. Come on, screw the state of the economy, you deserve that Montana vacation! Lots of runs in Montana and Idaho will be prime in the second half of June. Three or 4 or us are driving to Wausau in late July. Calling Craig, Brian, Roy, Pete, Ruth, Dewey, Dan, Bill, Teal and ???? You guys are so good, you really don't need a warm up race but remember how much fun you had? We don't have cheese turds but our scenery almost rivals the mid-west. Just a thought.[/i]
