Hole repair on PE

I'm looking at buying a used pyranha s6f conversion, on which the current owner has drilled holes in the bottom of the hull to bolt on the thigh straps. I'm more than likely going to want to remove them, but I can't seem to find any info on patching holes in PE. Would I have to get it welded, or would a vinyl mastic work? Any input would be appreciated.

Your best bet is to plastic weld the holes. Polyethylene is extremely difficult to bond items to, most adhesives fail rather quickly; that's probably why those bolts are there in the first place.

I have some similar extra holes in a Redline I've been meaning to re-outfit. I think I've decided that my best bet is just leaving in the extra bolts.
It may not have been my choice to place bolts there, but "if it ain't broke, don't fix it", and "the Devil you know..."
If we try to plug the holes, we're more likely to end up with a leaky hull at a bad time.

Ya I would have to agree that I would rather just leave them there, I'm just a bit worried about them catching on rocks and such during seal launches or in shallow water, as they are right on the bottom of the hull. Plus I'm likely going to be moving the straps that they're holding down anyways...
