Has anyone open boated the Taureau river in Canada?

Wow, that is incredible, Yarnell. The Stave River. What a trip report. Cory Boux is a world-class paddler -- but that looks like an almost life-changing swim he was forced to take. I can't believe what the river did to his boat!

Wild Canadian river with great rapids -- why am I not surprised to see the requisite hydro construction pictures make an appearance in the trip report, follow by pictures of soon-to-be dewatered rapids?

heading up to the Romaine today, going to try and hit the taureau if it comes up. Sadly, the endless miles of flatwater on the Romaine have weakened my soul to the point where I'm reverting back to the lesser evolved kayak mode. I'll show some pics when I get back. Should be interesting to see how much "dam progress" has been made up there.

Alden, love the book. It has taken two homes, my dashboard and the back of my toilet. Now I'm going to go test its accuracy!

saw the following post on the local Ottawa board and though it might be useful to you (it it's entirety:

Bonjour,

Pascale Caissy
responsable du service à la clientèle
Parc national de la Jacques-Cartier

fast translation:

the put in road for the taureau will be re built, so there's no access till next summer for the taureau

For those that can't wait until 2011 to run this river, there a video from the Taureau, Canada on youtube.

The second open boater is a Canadian named Del Dako (I think).

You're correct, ian123. The second open boater was Del Dako.

Since this thread was started, I posted some footage of my friends and me running the Taureau.

What a great river.

It's always good to see a C1 paddler in the group.

Nice looking water.

Great video. It made me nervous just watching it. You had a great run. Congrats.
