Hi,

I am new here so please, be gentle.

Myself and some friends are off to Japan next summer and we are looking to get as much info about the place before we go.

If any one has info on best location base, best/must do rivers, best touristy things and transport.

Any help is much appreciated.

You can email me on Ian.Letton@yahoo.com

Cheers,

Ian Letton

And another who has been there -

I'm sure if you PM or e-mail them, they would be more than happy to help.

Japan is a big country with some great paddling. Hokkaido is the most remote place to go. I hear that there is some good whitewater on Shikoku. Mr Motoari Ebara posts on this forum sometimes. He would be the resident expert.

See Ian I told you that it was a waste of time to post in the Kiddy pool, you would get more help here. I have let Mark Know about the issue with you access to

http://www.waldensridgewhitewater.com/forum/index.php

Again after work today I will try and contact my buddy in Japan and give him your address.

Hi

This is Motoari EBARA live in Tokyo Japan.
If you come to Tokyo, anytime you are welcome. :D
Please PM me.

1. Downriver
I recommend you the Mitake valley.
It takes about 3 hours from the center of Tokyo city by car or train.

Thanks so much for all your help and info so far.

We plan on making our base Oboke area on Shikoku.

Hi Ian san,

I havent been Shikoku area yet.
But it seems far from my home.
From Tokyo to Okayama station by Shinkansen train about 4 hours.
Then Okayama to Oboke station by local express train about 2 hours.
Total 6 or 7 hours and one-way train ticket Yen20000.00 per person. :o

I find some videos about Oboke area by yakkers.

Thats us booked our flights.

22nd July to 8th August 2010.

Thanks for all your help so far guys.

We have changed our plan. We don't exactly know where we are going but we have ruled out Shikoku. Too far to travel.

If anyone has any info or tips, let me know.

Cheers,

Ian Letton

Hi Motoari
That looks like a fun place to play (Mitake valley). I've never seen so many of Kaz's boats in one place when it wasn't a race. Awesome to see! Is there anywhere I could rent a boat if I make it over some time next year?
Cheers,
Matt

Throw a stone to the river at Mitake valley, it hits an athlete of Japan national team of kayak.
All they paddle the composite boat such like Caiman, Double Dutch and GalaSports.
We have affinity and longing for the composite boat and the slalom race.
So we love Kaz's products.

Unfortunately, there are no rental shops for OC1.
Because single paddler has his own canoe and kayaker doesn't borrow the canoe.
