I talked to Richard and Sam at Mohawk to see if there was a place to test the Viper before buying. They recommended asking on the Cboat forum........SO I am asking if anyone would mind letting me demo their Viper, before I purchase one? I am in Connecticut but travel through out New England on most weekends.
Thank you
Wayne

Not that I have one (anymore - however a great boat) which length are you interested in? Really depends on your weight and size.

ncdavid's reply to your question is well worth considering.
Western Canoeing (Clipper) is licenced to produce composite Vipers. I have a 12', in "Kevlar Duraflex" (proprietary layup) which is bombproof, and has lasted over 20 years, with only minor repairs. If you want a lighter boat, you can specify they alter the layup.
They will also make a Viper 11. Same comments.
On my hull, they increased the depth, especially in the ends, so for big water, you get a dryer ride. (You can specify it be trimmed down if you wish, which makes for easier rolling.)
Being composite, the hull is stiffer than Royalex, and I think this improves performance.
A good boat! Hard chines amidships, softening toward the ends (unlike -- say -- the Ocoee, which carries hard chines right to the ends.) Good rocker -- surfs well.

I have a friend with one of their Viper 12s. Vastly superior to the Royalex version of the boat. Well worth the price.

Thank you
I will look at the clipper as an alternate to the Mohawk.

I wore out three vipers before I crossed over to c1
Vipers are great, but royalex is weak. if i were buying another viper it would be a clipper for sure.
