Pimp my ride

Post by funkidreadz »

Hello Cboaters,
I just outfitted a new Taureau and thought I would share what I did.

I think customising your canoe is a vital to optimal performance. And as it says in the blog if you wanna know more, drop me a mail.
Stay safe
James.

Thanks for sharing that!

I like the (relative) simplicity and completeness of the features you got done. Safety is adressed, foam is now everywhere. Not much water should get in that boat now... as long as you stay in I guess! :D

Enjoy!
Watch out; that river has rocks on the bottom. :o

Great images and text.
I loved the
Drain pipe, some old strap sewn together and a nut and blot. a super easy strap anchor system
I'm a little surprised at the location of the rear D ring for the thigh straps, as it is over or above the ankle/heel. I guess it works well there for you.

A very impressive outfitting package, including how you put it all together for your site/blog. Much appreciated.

Outfitting looks great! How well does the pipe stay put as a thigh strap anchor. I have an old boat which the previous owner did not attach the thigh strap anchor d-rings to very well, and it's pulled up a bit of the outer layer of the inside of the boat. I've been struggling with finding a method for a new thigh strap anchor, as this d-ring is right where I would need one to be. Just seems like rolling etc. would put a ton of stress on that pipe. This may have to be my solution though, I can't come up with anything else short of a full bulkhead, and I much prefer thigh straps with no bulkhead.

Thanks for your encouraging comments.

Yes the rear D ring is over my heals, the advantage is that I am very well strapped into the canoe, the disadvantage is that I only come out when I release the straps, I can roll so no big drama!
@Peter
There is no problem with with the drain pipe slipping, I choose a diameter that is a bit bigger than the equalisation tube so it is squashed in. The foam on the hull also keeps the pipe from falling out.
I have used this style of system for several years and never had a problem with the saddle falling out or the pipe breaking.
