Poll on age range of open boaters?

Post by MarkT »

I've searched and not found anything that indicates the question has been asked.

If open boating (and C-1) has declined over the years, I wonder what the age range is of the people who read and use the C Forum? I'm 61 and wondering how many people my age and older are still paddling? I'm not sure how to put this into a "poll question" since a multi-part question needs to be asked: ie; age 20 and under, 21 to 30, 31 to 40, 41 to 50, 51 to 60, 61 to 70?

Let's see - in our household, I won't count my wife since she averages something under 5 days per year :

42
12
10
7
4

Average age = 15!

I hope I'm good for another 30-40 years. Maybe there will be some advances and inventions that will stretch it out even further...

24 when I began paddling whitewater... and I turned 40 last Saturday

Our three year old asked me this evening when she could start going paddling with me... but she informed me that she doesn't want to go over waterfalls yet... she said she'd wait until she's five to do that. :D

Looks like it's time to start working on that kid's canoe

 Listen, kid, my age range is 39 to 67, and my recent OC-1 paddling still hasn't caught up to c-1 paddling in my youth.
