is the cherohala skyway open?

Colin needs to know if it's open right now.
To me, this is the most direct way from Asheville to the Telico. Please correct me if I'm wrong please...
From FB would go to Newport

Not sure if it is open but we still have snow in shade at higher elevations in Maggie Valley. If he paddles FB today I would go newport I40 etc.

I40 is not open thru, but the road thru hot springs to Newport is not too much longer... Way better than going through JC to 81.
