Well it's that time of the year again. The Lost Tribe (Upper Cumberland District- BSA) is having it's yearly canoe school on the Hiwassee next weekend. We have over 125 kids ages 11 to 18 signed up to be in canoes, OMG !! Thats how you promote the sport!! Could we use some help? Well yea! I know the Hiwussee isn't the most exciting river to be on but it's worth a couple days to intro a bunch of kids to the sport we all love. We'd love to have some of the "Big Guys" come out and talk to the kids and maybe give a few pointers. We'll show the "Canoe Movie" Satuday night at the Gee Creek amphitheatre. Some of the older more experienced kids will tackle a more advanced river on Sat. The kids had a GREAT time last year on the Ocoee, hopefully we can work something out this year too.
Mohawk is going to be helping out with some canoes, what a great bunch of people.
What if some L'Edges showed up........Hmmmmm? Whatta ya say Esquif?
Anyway, Wish us luck ! We'll need it !

Hey Ken

What a great event! Yer right -- it's definitely how to promote the sport, and -- better still -- how to build healthy citizens as well.

If I didn't live so far, I'd be there in a flash, wit boats -- to help, to learn, to snap pictures, just to be part of it . . .

Best wishes for a wonderful time. Please post photos!!

Rick

We'll be camping at Gee Creek in the overflow campground. You can't miss us, just find the shelters where the Coffee and cooks are and there we'll be.

I want to go to the Russell Fork on Sat. but would be able to go to the Ocoee on Sunday. Will you have people on the Ocoee on Sunday?

Louie, I don't think they have decided where they are going to take the older guys yet. This years crop isn't quite as polished as last years so the river has yet to be determined. Steve Isbell (econpaddler) usually heads that up, he may have some more insight as to where they will be goin.

Our friends at Mohawk are helping out with a rack of tandems and an array of solo boats for the kids to demo! Thanks Richard! There's even a rumor that Dooley may show up with that new boat I heard something about, the wedge, sledge, Oh yea the L'edge, thats it ! The Canoe Movie Sat. night! If I sound a little excited its because I AM!
Thanks again to everyone!! We'll post some pics.
