I just had the best week on the Dumoine River with my family and Canoeroots and Rapid contributor Brian Shields. I can't believe it took me so long to do this river. My new favourite river.

We did six days from Benoit to Driftwood Provincial Park on the Ontario side of the Ottawa. Trailhead ran our shuttle. Six days is more than most people take, but we had the kids who are only 4 and 5. They loved it too. Tons of class II whitewater.

Here's a link some of my photos:

Let me know if you want more info about the trip or river. I'm doing research for upcoming article in Canoeroots.

Thanks for sharing Scott!

The Dumoine, Coulonge and Noire are three incredible jewels of that area. Perfect for family trips, not too much heavy duty stuff, but just enough class 2 for keeping everybody awake... Sand beaches are just everywhere.

Great to see that "unorganized" territories like this can still stay in decent shape, generally speaking, you do find the campsites kinda clean... Although I always bring an extra empty barrel for misc junk left by other paddlers, it is great to be able to paddle a river without paying parc fees and restrictions, etc. Good fishing to do too, love that area. 8)

Wow
