Whether I go for the dry or wet line depends on a variety of factors :
* temp
* how long the rapid is and how close I am to the end of it - any tough moves that being swamped will affect?
* how long the river is and how much time/energy I want to devote to muscling a swamped boat around
* how much fun I might have on either line (challenge of the dry line vs. the splash)
* mood
* how I am dressed and what happens next - sometimes its convenient to hop out dry and go straight to dinner...
