the Elves in the Blackfly workshop have been busy getting the new toys ready for next year. At least they would have been busy, if there were any Elves here, so really it's just been me being busy. (Note to self, get some Elves). Meet the Option and the Ion. Hoping to have some prototypes ready mid-January.
The Option- River running/creeking
The Ion- River running playboat

It will be a great day for open boating when people start seeing traditional looking canoes blunting on big waves... From the looks of the Ion that day will be coming soon in 2011

Sooooo what are the specs on the Option?

Just when I thought I only needed one more boat to complete the quiver (millbrook) these pop up. That ion looks mighty nice.

Is the Ion an iteration of the boat you had at ALF last year?

Great looking so far. Can't wait to see the proto on the creek or wave. Of course that will be ALF I'm sure..... all things going smooth.

pre-production specs are:
Option: 8'9" length, 28" wide, 15.25" deep
Ion: 6'9" long, 28" wide, 15" deep. The Ion plug is actually the boat I was paddling at Alf last year, with a bunch added in some spots and a bunch taken away in other spots.

Awesome. Nice to see that someone other than Esquif is committed to bringing new designs to the canoe world. Colors?

Colors- too early to say yet. Personally I'm leaning toward yellow for the first batch, but I'll probably leave it up to the people who actually want to buy them.

The Option looks real interesting. Just the ticket to compliment my Blackfly I hope.
