Epic weekend
Looks like were going to have 16+ OC's on the ocoee tomorrow. I could think of no better way to end 2010, than being on the river with a bunch of friends. There will be boaters from Georgia, Alabama, Pensilvania, and of course Tennessee. On Saturday, starting the new year by hucking the falls. (tellico) We'll run the whole river of course and float through the gathering of boaters at baby falls. Unlesssss, we get enough snowmelt and rain to get a run on Bald river or Canasauga Creek. And on Sunday, it's looking like the green. It will be a firsd D for me but I'm ready and willing. It's looking like an epic weekend for open boaters in the southeast. If you can make it, come on down. We could add another State to the list.

You could run it multiple times if you'd like. We'll likely hang out at the falls for a while. I may even run it a few times if they have a rope set up. that way I dont have to carry the boat up the steep bank. But, we will run the whole river, arrive at the huckfest, hang out for a few, then continue the run.
We'll arrive at the put-in, drop of boats, run shuttle like always, and not worry about having to park anywhere near the falls. The parking there is now kind of screwed up. before you could park 20+ cars there. Now theres like 8 parking spots but they did install bathrooms.

An epic weekend indeed. There was yankees, mexican food, flood waters, and carnage. On friday we did the upper Ocoee and I got to see Tommy swim. On saturday, the Huckfest was cancelled because the water was rising very rapidly and was unsafe. We ended up going to citico and puting on there, even thought it was a bit high too. Sunday we returned to the Tellico and ran the lower because the waters were still raging. I got three rivers in, lost a paddle, and got a little banged up, but it was great. I'm going to start calling this Ain't New Years Fest.
Did I mention Tommy swam.
