29 inch width is nice

The SF and L'Edge are great widths allowing the confidence to paddle over, thru a hole that might have snagged a short boat if you were bracing thru it.

I know a number of people who have cut the full 18" out of their boats and have too much pride to admit it was a big mistake...
The best cut down I have seen is Jamie Burbecks, it only has about 4" or 100mm out of the middle but has around 6" or more cut off each end.
It planes, is retentive and and will throw ends on shallower features..

And a few years ago i came across two guys on a river paddling a Spanish Fly OC2 :o !!!
...they had inserted and 18" cutdown offcut into a fly and were having a blast...!!
Never seen it since...
