Canoe tripping Switzerland/France

Post by savagekevin »

Anyone got ideas of where to do some short overnight canoe trips within say 5 hours of Geneva?

We're introducing our club (kayakers or C1 paddlers) to the joy of canoe tripping and looking for places to go.

Last year we did the Ardeche in September and it was a tremendous success. Come spring we want to get people out again on the river again in so-called 'Canadian' canoes.

We're trying to get folks to come to the second "European Canoe Festival" on the Drome, but as the main appeal is in carrying all the gear and going somewhere to camp, we're looking to organize some other weekend events. Something with campsites on the river and a little Class II excitement along the way to start adapting kayak skills to the canoe. Class III is not yet an option.

So, any suggestions anyone?

Options we're looking at are the Allier and the Tarn.

Much appreciate any suggestions.

Cheers
