Option vs L'Edge

Post by craigert »

I see there's been a lot of talk on the forum about the Blackfly Option and Esquif L'Edge but i'm really trying to guess which would be best for me.

I currently paddle a prelude which is great but at my size (6ft2 220lb) quite tippy. I'm looking for a more stable creeker that will help me progress onto more difficult runs. I've been paddling about 1 year and i'm comfortable & confident on grade 2 and starting to move onto grade 3.

I don't think demo'ing the boats is an option as i live in Ireland and there are very few people paddling OC1's here and no suppliers. I've even checked with UK distributors but it will take a while for them to stock L'Edge. So if i want a modern OC1 some time soon, i'm looking at importing one from USA.

Sorry for the life story but any help would be much appricated.

Have you look into BigDog kayaks, they are comming out with a Force OC1(Look a little like a Taureau) i heard good things about the prototype. and they are in the UK...

as for the l'Èdge and Otion, I don't think you could go wrong in terms of handling your weight from what I read here o the forum!
