Can anyone describe this canoe's strengths/weaknesses and how it may work for a newbie 9 year old. I think it's rated around 70-110 lbs paddler if I remember correctly. Are there other options for small canoeist. My daughter isn't quite yet 70 lbs.
If anyone has one kicking around pm me please.

Its a kids version( but a little different) of the Bulldog, and I've had one of those. Get it, its the only kids whitewater canoe out there. Unless you want to chop a canoe in half, cut out the center and weld it together. The SL'Edge worked out great for a 10 year old at ALF. But, the Splash is what you need.

Or you can buy an INFERNO from Millbrook Boats. Although, it's 11' long, but you can purchase a bare hull that I could cut down to a 12" depth. Kids lay-up, bare hull - $800 - hull only, provided you want to put your own rails on. That is, if you want a composite boat, and a bare hull.
thanks,
Jkaz

How big was the 10 year old at ALF? Male or Female?

Male, kinda small. Looked proportionate to what a normal person would look like in a normal L'Edge. Here's a pic.

so, is that a smaller version of L'edge? I am confused.

Its a L'Edge that I cut in half, removed 25" and welded back together. At that point, it had 19" thwarts.

OK. How well did it weld back?

Welded up nicely. No issues. Holding up to abuse very well.
On another note- That is cool that Kaz would cut down an Inferno...

We had an old Dagger AFTERSHOCK out at the pool.
I think it could make for a great kid's boat. Yukon will set it up for his son (11yrs, about 70lbs). ...........report to come.

OK, I'm a bit off with my estimates. Sorry P.
Maybe that L'Edge didn't weigh 200 lbs.

What about a Dagger Phantom. Would be great for a lighter paddler.
Oh, By the way. I have one for sale.
Inferno?

I'm assuming from the website description that, at adult weight at least, the Inferno is an edgy, high performance race boat, right? With a 55lb or 95 lb kid in it, does it become more forgiving? Also, how well does a composite boat hold up to running class 1-2 rapids without a pilot? Assuming it's properly bagged out, of course...

Kaz, my daughter is about 60 lbs, and 4' tall. Do you think a choped inferno would work for her?
