Lower Yough level?

Post by ncdavid »

Anybody have a visual? The online gauge is frozen at 4.83 ft Saturday night at midnight. I'll be paddling there Saturday and Sunday and have some Yough first-timers in the group.

It had fallen to 4.2 on Sunday, and then 3.5 or so Monday when I was out there. AW pages are all out of whack, a bunch of the gauges were way off this weekend.

Worse comes to worse, call Ohiopyle state park.

It's up to around 4.5 again mid week but they cut the dam back on the weekends usually when it's this high. The lake is really full they're just unloadin some water. It'll be good on the weekend. I know all the lines at every level so there won't be any issues. If it's real high we have a couple real good alternatives right now.

I am off Sun and Mon this week. If I am reading this thread correctly, it sounds like there will be a gathering of OC1's in western Pa this weekend. Any room too join in the fun Sun. I have an Outrage, an Outraged, a Blackfly, and an Option to choose from depending on the river and the group. I would be driving from Carlisle, PA.

If anyone gets bored Big Al and I will be on the Slip this weekend with others for a canoe clinic.... Lord knows we needed it.

Just a different option and as always it more fun to have have more canoes. :-)

Coming from North Carolina we have 4 OC1s and 2 K1s. Colin Moneypenny and a friend of mine from DC (both drive OC1s) are joining us. We have 9 am slots for Saturday and Sunday. The plan is to paddle the whole river both days, catch a Loop run on Monday, and be back home by dark. If our trip is easy tomorrow, we might catch a Loop run before setting up camp. Lengthy is joining us and offered to show us other runs if the LY had stayed too high. Level looks perfect for this weekend on the Lower Yough.
