July 4th - OC1 Onslaught
Posted: Mon Jun 27, 2011 10:01 pm
The goal is to get at least 20 OC1s...
Date: This upcoming Friday-Monday
Location: Western PA/MD
Camping: Piney Mountain
Rivers: Lower Yough(III), Upper Yough(IV+), Savage(IV), Potomac(III)
So here's the deal. The LY releases every day, the UY releases Fri, Sat, and Mon. Savage releases on Sunday....
Sooo....if you are a class IV paddler - you have the chance for an All-Star weekend. Meaning, UY on Friday, UY Saturday, Savage Sunday, and UY Monday.
If you are a class III paddler - The lower yough is right there, and you have the option of stepping it up on the Savage on Sunday. Although - for the record, making a step-up run on the Savage, would be classified as 'FullGnarlz'. It's not a river you really want to swim down.
I would really like to have as many Open-Boats as we possibly can. It's going to be a very busy weekend for rafters and boaters... and I can't think of a better way to let everyone know that 'WW Canoeing is not dead" than having as many OC1s as we can out there that weekend. If you are not from around here...all the more reason you should come on out and paddle these Classic rivers. So please come on out... and support the cause!
...With that being said - Who thinks they can go? Who wants to go? Who's in for the Piney Mountain throwdown!?!?
