My Whitesell Descender went to the great Whitewater river in the sky finally. I will remember it with great love and fond memories. Can anyone recommend a replacement canoe now that Whitesell canoes are no longer being made (at least I think they are no longer being made). I know the Whitesells were pretty unique but you savvy folks in the know - I'm looking for a reincarnation :D Tim

There are some hulls in Nolan's old shed at the Nantahala. It is my understanding that he has no gunnel material, but if you can salvage your gunnels, I believe you can buy a new hull. Finding Nolan might be the trick. Last I heard he was surfing in Australia.

If you can find one in reasonable condition, a Dagger Encore is of similar dimensions and might suit. A Dagger Genesis is a bit longer.

I'm a real Whitesell fan from years gone by. I found a couple of boats (one Descender) on Craigslist. No idea of condition:

Western Canoe and Kayak (Abbotsford, near Vancouver) has a mould for Whitesell's Piranha. I think they could dust it off and build you a new composite boat. Don't know if they have any other Whitesell's designs though.

Good luck with your quest!

I have 2 whitesells for sale. Both Pyranhas. One is mint, I've never had it on the water, stored inside and a "excellent" one, paddled less than 12 x. Both in Richmond VA
